Man , what a place it was ....!!
I was excited from the moment i heard i'm goin to mangalore [but only for four days] ....
so , packed all hopped into the mangalore xpress at 5pm 0n 15th and then started the train journey of 16hrs , i thot it would be fun .... but it wasn't :( ... jus looking at others faces and to add to my woes were ... u know...
Then came mangalore station at next day 9am it was raining der , headed straight home , immediately had breakfast got ready and started fun time...
Day 1.
Headed first to a place called "Sultan Battery" - where there is a very big lake for all boat rides ... 1st i thot of kayaking but then changed
my mind to go jus into a speed boat ..... Rs 100 for a mere 20mins.... but it was fun all the way.. the water was too good (not like muthu kaadu here) no smells no nothing... the boat went at 60-70ks i think [ it was that fast] ..... then went for lunch in a big hotel ....
after that thot of doing some window shopping at "bharath mall" but b4 that booked tickets for the Mtv youth icon nominee - AB junior's movie "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" at ADLABS theatre for 7:15show and went for shopping at the same mall....
Here and there i was saying to myself Bliffffaa very frequently[no wonder Aishwarya Rai and Shilpa "Shetty" are mangalore natived] ,and very very rarely put down my head and said biplak!
wow what a place it was... some girls did stare at me , but i as usual gave a blank look to all ....
thn it was 7pm and wat else , it was movie time bought all things to eat and went inside and sat..
Man i should say , mangalore is a plce of mainly class ppl,not even a single whistle when AB senior and junior appeared on screen or that it was jus ADLABS theater... dono ... Now about the movie - it was a typical bollywood film with all the masala elements combined
and shot in foreign locales , the costumes were nice especially AB's ...
About the theater ADLABS , it was not as big as Sathyam or as small as Mayajaal but somewhat ok (no balcony's since its located inside a mall - jus like INOX) the sound effects were awesome.
then the movie ended at 9:35 or so .... went straight home ... and wat else slept....
There at m'glore, the water was so chill .. but i dint even get thirsty a single time...jus drank water for the sake of it...
Day2.
Woke up at 8 and very quickly got ready and had breakfast and went straight to bus stand waiting for bus at 10...
There everything is private, i mean the buses all private.... no govt buses . so with private buses
my estimate is that u get a bus for evry 2.5 mins , no matter where u wanna go !
fares are very low too.. hence with enuf competition they drive fast and make sure
they get some profit atleast....
then i got introduced to a new place called "Kasaragod" in english but locally they call it
"kasaragoodu" .. actually its in kerala i shud say... really enjoyed kerala's beauty,, no wonder they call it "God's own Country" the plan was to go to the renowned "Bekal Fort"....
then from kasaragod have to catch another bus to go to a place called kaancha____ ( forgot wat it was) frm der take a right and walk to bekal fort .... reached der at 1 30pm i think..
It was massive - a very old fort but aestically built - entrance ticket fares were funny to read
It said " Rs 5/- for each Indian national and 2$ that is Rs 100/- for each foreign national " actually there's nothing funny in this i guess ......
Bekal fort was really massive (i'm intentionally saying again) then, stirred around in the fort for some 2hrs ... came out happily and went to a kasaragod and then to m'glore...
went to a restaurant called "Cherry corner" at 6 itself ,but it said restaurant open at 6 30 only for dinner ...so, went to a nearby shop called "Change - wear your dream" to actually jus chck out ,,,, but the cargos collection were so good that i took one for me for ma birthday ....
then went back to cherry corner at 6 45 and had all chicken items available der starting from tandoori to butterchicken .... it was chicken at its best inside an A/C room...
then there was the "Some like it hot" i was told its an ice cream ... but why hot ... lets see..
then came the server with a medium oval sized pan over a wooden pan of the same size..
the pan was damn hot with a cake on it ,over the cake was the ice cream .. yummm ... wait , der's more a cup of choclate syrup was poured over the icecream and it flowed over the hot pan making fuzzy noise... took my spoon and punched into the icecream .... toooo good... and the choclate had stuck to the pan , had to scratch it to eat ... hot hot hot .... left the restaurant with no place in stomach .... headed home and slept....
Day3.
Planned to go to beach this day but it was raining so did wat i usually do... posponed the plan to day4.
It was drizzling all day ,where did i go this day..... ah yeah , went to a place called "hampankatta"
its like T.Nagar for chennai but not as big as here.... bought some gifts for relations but nothin for me ..... ate outside and went home .....
Day4.
Last day .... :( ..... it was pouring outside at 8:30.... now where would we go..... snap ! the place left is Beach ... so no matter it rained got ready and caught the bus at 10:30 and off, went to panambur beach ,,,, the fascinating thing ( or not so) is that the harbour is quite close to the beach .... on walking towards the beach , one can get to see the entrance gate of the port....
So,thats it ... had fun at the beach , went home at 1pm and packed everything and went to station at 3:30 for the 4pm train to Chennai.... Mangalore was all over my mind on the return journey,,, missed it so much...
